Since Republicans clearly only care about men at this point, let me pose a question to Congressman Paul Ryan, Richard Mourdock, Todd Akin, and any of these other cretins who think women should be forced to carry their rape babies to term:
Mr. Misogynist X: what would you do if your wife became pregnant as the result of a rape?
Mr. Ryan, would you raise the child of the man who raped Janna?
Mr. Mourdock, your state of Indiana is one of 31 states that allows a rapist to have visitation and custody rights. Would you allow Marilyn Mourdock’s rapist to come into your home? Would you be willing to drive Marilyn’s child to the home of her rapist on weekends?
Mr. Akin, would you ask your wife, Lulli, if her rape was “legitimate?”
This may seem like a crass line of questioning, but if you recall, in the 1988 presidential debate when Michael Dukakis was asked if he would still oppose the death penalty if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, so it certainly wouldn’t be unprecedented.
Gentlemen (and I use that term loosely), what would you do if your wives were impregnated via rape? Or, as I suspect, do you believe married women don’t get raped because victims were secretly “asking” for it?
